Rabies Clinic & Microchip Event
sponsored by Friends of the Mobile
Animal Shelter, Dr. Ann Branch, & B&B
Pet Stop
MICROCHIP: $20.00 per pet ($18.00 for
VIP)
RABIES VACCINE: $10.00 per pet
Microchip is inserted under the skin
between the shoulder blades. Rescue
groups nationwide can scan the pet, call
the database, and contact the owner.
This is a PERMANENT form of
identification with a unique number that
can't be altered. CASH ONLY!
Here's how it's done: An identifying
microchip is inserted under the skin
(between the shoulder blades) by a
trained professional. If your pet is
lost, animal rescue personnel nationwide
can "scan" your pet and easily contact
you. The microchip is about the size of
a piece of rice; small enough to fit
inside a hypodermic needle. Injecting
the microchip is just like any other
injection or vaccination. It causes
very little discomfort and anesthesia is
not required or recommended. It's all
over in a few seconds!
Each microchip has a unique number. A
radio signal is used to read this number
through the skin of the pet. Scanners
are provided free to shelters and animal
rescue groups. Once your pet is
micro-chipped, you must register with
the microchip tracking service and keep
your contact information current in the
database. That way if your pet is lost,
the rescue group can scan your pet,
contact the database and you will be
contacted immediately! (Dr. Branch uses
"24 Pet Watch" microchips. There is NO
fee to be listed in the database and NO
fee when the information is changed.)
Collars and tags are still a great way
to identify your pet, especially in your
local neighborhood - but they can be
lost or worn through. A microchip
provides a permanent form of
identification with a unique number that
cannot be altered.
Don't
miss this incredible opportunity to
protect and identify your pets.

While summer is great for dogs, giving
them more time outside and often much more
exercise, summer activities bring risks,
too. Here are 8 easy tips to ensure a safe
and happy pet this summer:
- Stay up-to-date on flea
medication. Your pet should not be
outdoors without proper protection.
- Use proper restraints when
traveling by car. Accidents can
prove seriously dangerous-and often
fatal-to unrestrained pets.
- If you chain or pen your dog
during the summer, make sure there
is adequate shade and water.
- Do NOT leave your pet in the
car. Cracking a window open will
not prevent temperatures from rising
to unbearable degrees-it's cruel and
could be fatal.
- Bring water when you travel with
your pet. The heat and excitement
of car travel and outdoor play
leaves pets thirsty and
exhausted-they need plenty of water
to stay hydrated.
- Avoid walking or playing on very
hot blacktop or pavement. Your
pet's paw-pads are sensitive-don't
risk burning them.
- Not all dogs can swim-make sure
to keep pool areas secure and watch
your pet closely while in the
water. Limit swimming time, too, as
exhaustion can lead to drowning.
- Dogs just can't handle the heat
as well as humans - even mild
temperatures can put your pet at
risk for heat stroke. Make sure you
can recognize heatstroke symptoms:
frantic, raspy, or excessive
panting; thick saliva and drooling;
sluggishness; unresponsiveness;
possible vomiting.

ROUND-UP FOR CHARITY
|
|
B&B Pet Stop is raising thousands of
dollars for local charities. We're
doing this through an extraordinary
feature of our cash register software
that prompts the cashiers to invite
customers to "round-up" to the next
dollar and make a donation to a
particular charity.
"To our great delight, we've found that
MOST of our customers enthusiastically
say "yes" since it is ALWAYS less than a
dollar" explains Sally Adams Trufant,
General Manager at B&B Pet Stop.
Greyhound Pets of America is a
tax-exempt, non-profit corporation
founded in 1987 for the purpose of
finding homes for ex-racing greyhounds
and educating the public on the
suitability and availability of
greyhounds as pets. Greyhound Pets of
America is the largest non-profit
greyhound adoption group, and since it
opened its doors in 1987 has adopted
over 80,000 greyhounds into loving
homes.
