B&B Pet Stop is teaming up with the Friends of Mobile Animal Shelter and Dr. Ann Branch for an extraordinary event aimed at reducing the number of unidentified pets in Mobile.  Dr. Ann Branch and volunteers from the Mobile Animal Shelter will be at B&B Pet Stop to microchip pets and to administer rabies vaccines at a greatly reduced price.  Have your pet MICRO-CHIPPED for just $30.00!  (The cost to microchip a pet typically ranges from $35 to $75.) Rabies shots will be just $10.00CASH ONLY!

Here’s how it’s done: An identifying microchip is inserted under the skin (between the shoulder blades) by a trained professional. If your pet is lost, animal rescue personnel nationwide can “scan” your pet and easily contact you.

The microchip is about the size of a piece of rice; small enough to fit inside a hypodermic needle. Injecting the microchip is just like any other injection or vaccination.  It causes very little discomfort and anesthesia is not required or recommended.  It’s all over in a few seconds!

Each microchip has a unique number.  A radio signal is used to read this number through the skin of the pet. Scanners are provided free to shelters and animal rescue groups.  Once your pet is micro-chipped, you must register with the microchip tracking service and keep your contact information current in the database.  That way if your pet is lost, the rescue group can scan your pet, contact the database and you will be contacted immediately!  (Dr. Branch uses “24 Pet Watch” microchips.  There is NO fee to be listed in the database and NO fee when the information is changed.)

Collars and tags are still a great way to identify your pet, especially in your local neighborhood – but they can be lost or worn through. A microchip provides a permanent form of identification with a unique number that cannot be altered.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to protect and identify your pets.
