about bathing pets at B&B Pet Stop!

Here's How it works: Buy a program card
at the register. Take your pet over to the Pet Wash-o-Matic and a B&B Pet Stop
employee will guide you through the process. You will first THOROUGHLY brush the
pet. You'll want to remove as much loose hair as possible (loose hair can clog the
machine's filters).
- Insert the program card, a cycle will sanitize the cabin, THEN you
simply open the glass door, put the pet inside the well-lit, well-ventilated cabin, and
start the bath cycle.

| Thirty-six jets of warm water mixed with
either regular shampoo (Program 1) or flea control shampoo (Program 2) spiral and pulsate
out from the back, both sides, the top and the bottom.
The pet is initially surprised, but within seconds it will settle down and enjoy the
spa-like hydro-massage. The machine will pause for two minutes so that the
shampoo can effectively clean the pet and the flea-control ingredient (if
appropriate) can take effect. A brief but thorough fresh water rinse cycle follows. |

Just before the drying cycle begins,
the machine pauses again to gauge the
temperature of the cabin. Then the fans
start up for an 18-24 minute warm-air
drying cycle. We like to joke,
"Notice there is no spin cycle!" |

There are many safety features built into the
machine.
First - the machine will shut down if the water temperature
varies by 3 degrees - warmer or cooler. Second - at ANY time an owner can stop the
machine and take their pet out. Third- the machine drains continuously - it is not
like a bathtub, it is more like a shower - so even the shortest pets can jump in and
enjoy a circulation -boosting hydro-massage! Before each use, the machine
automatically runs a sanitation cycle so that it is always clean for the next pet.
- Why use an automatic pet washing machine?
Since there is no scrubbing motion involved with this system, the
natural protective oils on the pet's skin are not compromised and a pet can be washed more
frequently. Even more importantly, YOU stay dry! Think how great this will be
when it's cold outside - or for older pet owners who can't handle their pets in the
bathtub. They can sit down and relax while the machine does all the work!
A word about bathing a CAT in the Pet Wash-o-Matic:
Generally speaking, cats don't like water and don't want to be
bathed. A cat in the Pet Wash-o-Matic will leap around when the jets first start
since they are startled and can't "escape" the water. This can be
surprising and cause anxiety in the pet-owner. We ask pet-owners to take a deep
breath and wait a minute or two. The machine is completely safe and there is NO
reason to stop the cycle. We've found that although cats seem unhappy at first, they
usually calm down within a few minutes and will patiently
"endure" the shampoo and rinse cycle and meow loudly during the
drying cycle. By the time the cat is dry they are usually
completely calm.

But where are the puppies and kittens?
Since there are so many homeless
pets, we've decided not to sell dogs and cats, instead, every Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. we
have a Weekly Pet Adoption Event.
Customers are encouraged to bring their litters of puppies and kittens and others are encouraged to come in to select a new pet. Customers must stay with the pets they bring in – they cannot just drop them off here! Any pet not adopted must go back home with the owner.
We set up this event on the front porch of our store – rain or shine! We have an employee assigned to the event who checks in adoptable pets as they arrive and has customers fill out paper work as they adopt a pet. (The paperwork is forwarded to the Mobile SPCA)
There is a $5.00 adoption fee, which is a donation to the Mobile Animal Shelter’s spay / neuter program. We provide a packet of basic, new-pet information about housebreaking, crate training, premium pet foods, flea control, and our indoor dog training classes. A local vet with whom we work very closely offers a certificate for a free first exam and a $10 discounts on Spay/Neutering. Nutro Pet Foods generously allows us to send each adopted pet home with a free 5-lb bag of the appropriate pet food.
This event is a real crowd pleaser! We adopt out approximately 25 pets per week and we’ve been sponsoring this event for about ten years – so that means THOUSANDS of Mobilians have gotten their pets from the weekly pet adoption at B&B Pet Stop.

Looking for a particular breed of puppy or kitten?
There are so many good breeders along the Gulf Coast, so we
maintain a
breeder list with the names and telephone numbers of many of them. That way, our
customers can visit the home of the breeder to see the parents and select a puppy or

In-Store Cat Adoption Program
sponsored by Baldwin County Humane Society and the Mobile SPCA
At B&B Pet Stop, we are proud to present a truly
wonderful cat adoption opportunity in partnership with the Baldwin
County Humane Society (BARC). We provide the space and take
care of the cats while they are here in the store, but the Baldwin
County Humane Society keeps the cages stocked
with healthy, adoptable cats and kittens. The adoption fee varies but they both include
a certificate to have the pet spayed or neutered at a local veterinarian’s office.
